The Annual General Meeting of the Vancouver Homebrewers Association will take place on February 7, 2015, 12:30pm sharp, at Callister Brewing Co. - 1338 Franklin Street, Vancouver, BC.
Only paid-up members may attend the AGM - renewals and new memberships will be taken, but if you need to sign up before the AGM, try to arrive a little early (say 11:30). We will do all the usual AGM stuff: review the past year's activities, status report on finances, and elect a new executive for the coming year. You must be present at the AGM to vote.
There will be a private party at Callister following the AGM, for VanBrewers members and limited numbers of VanBrewers guests. Doors for the party will not open until the AGM is complete, likely 1:30-2:00pm. If you bring a corny keg (or equivalent) to the party your entrance fee is waived, otherwise a donation may be required. Kegs may be dropped off at Callister during their regular business hours in the week leading up to the AGM, and can be retrieved the next day.
We would appreciate as much volunteer help as possible to get to set up for the event, and to bring interesting beverages, food or other materials. Contact your friendly neighbourhood exec member if you can arrive early to help - or just show up!
Note that you MUST NOT DRIVE to or from the AGM or after-party. In addition to being stupid, drinking and driving is a violation of the VanBrewers Code Of Conduct (attached - applicable to all VanBrewers and party attendees) and will result in expulsion from the club. Get a ride, take the bus, bring a Car2Go, and make sure that your ride home is arranged before you arrive, as VanBrewers and the membership reject any liability for you doing something crazy like drinking and driving.
Here's to a fun and brewy 2015!
The exec has been (hard?) at work making things happen as of late. The best fruits of our labours are these two great products.
T-shirts are 20 for the Crew Neck, $25 for the V-necks. Available at all VanBrewer events, as well as the BC Beer Awards this weekend.
The Spieglau glasses (damn they're nice, right?) are $18 each, or two for $30. Compare that to $42-ish on amazon for the two IPA glasses...
The 2014 Vanbrewer Awards site is now live! We have some amazing sponsors this year!
Also note that this counts towards the 2014 Canadian Homebrewer of the year.
The monthly meetup will be a little shorter this evening. Due to the passing of a Scribes member, we will have to leave between 9 and 9:30 tonight. It is their club house we borrow, and these extenuating circumstances are a good enough reason to give it back to them earlier than normal.
We will be holding general elections for the club at the AGM on February 1. The positions available are President, Treasurer, Secretary, and four board member positions. On average elected members spend 10-20 hours a month performing club duties, sometimes a little more during events like the VanBrewer Awards, AGM, and Summer party.
If you're interested in a position, feel free to contact firstname.lastname@example.org and we can fill you in with more details.
VanBrewers will be holding their Annual General Meeting on February 1, 2014. Parallel 49 Brewing has graciously offered a (heated!) space for us again this year in their lab.
Beginning at noon we will be renewing and signing up new members for this member-only business meeting. The meeting will begin at 1pm and should run no later than 2:30. Standard AGM stuff to be covered includes elections, club business and anything else the membership sees fit. If you would like to run for an elected position or have a topic to bring up, please email email@example.com and let us know! Advance warning will allow the executive to prepare and hopefully have the answers you're looking for!
After the AGM will be our winter reception. Much like the summer event this is a get together like no other! Those who bring a full batch (20L keg, approx 25 bombers, etc..) will be permitted free entry. If you want to attend but have nothing to offer, the entry fee is $20 for members, $25 for non-members. Food arrangements to be decided, but worst case scenario there will be a food truck at the front of the tasting room.
With the meeting being so close to the end of January, we will forego the monthly meeting. The February meeting will be held, in the usual space on Commercial, on February 27.
If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us via the email address above.
The November meeting is on for the 28th. See you at 7pm above the Legion on Commercial!
Rumors are there may be a pin cask or two...
In lieu of Halloween, we have moved the reqular club meeting up a week to the 24th, same spooky time, same spooky place. Please remember to bring a tasting glass and some homebrew to share.
7pm at 2205 Commercial Drive, upstairs from the Legion
Regular club meetings resume on Thursday September 26th, 7pm upstairs at the legion. Meeting topic and presentations to be announced.
Hope to see you all there!
Just a reminder that our regular monthly meeting will be held tonight at 7pm at the Legion on Commercial Drive. Doors at 7, please remember to bring your own glass for sampling.
