Next meeting: February 23rd, 2012
Our next meeting will be on Thursday, February 23rd at the usual location; see the event page for a map, or hit up Facebook if you're into that. There will be a presentation from Wyeast, we'll be discussing the next club challenge (members only...what more incentive do you need to sign up?), and having our usual sampling of home brews. As ever, new members are most welcome. We hope to see you there!
April Club Challenge
For the next club competition we will all make beer(s) using Wyeast 3522, Belgian Ardennes.
A few points:
- You can use any grains / hops you want the only thing you have to use is the 3522.
- You can make any style of beer you want, beers will be judged according to BJCP guidelines.
- You have to specify what style of beer you are entering when you submit your bottles.
- You can enter more than 1 beer if you want, but only 1 beer per style / category.
- There will only be 1 overall winner, not 1 winner per category.
- Judging will take place at our April meeting.
- You must be a Vanbrewers memeber to enter the competition
VanBrewers AGM and Winterfest: January 21, 2012
Come to our Annual General Meeting/Winterfest!
We'll be voting in members for executive council, followed by a big sampling of members beers. We are looking for people to take on the roles of president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer. Any nominations can be sent to vanbrewers at gmail.com, or announced at the event.
We are asking all members to bring homemade beverages to make this event happen. Judging of the club competition will be take place at 3:00pm, and AGM will be at 4:30pm. Winterfest will follow the AGM and go until around 10pm. The location is 1950 triumph street(the new home of Parallel 49 Brewing Company).
The price is $20 for members and $30 for non-members. If you bring a ~19L keg of beer or equivalent volume, we will null the entrance fee. It was a stretch getting the venue for this so please be respectful! We will try to organize food and may require donations for that to work. VanBrewers T-shirts will be available for purchase as well.
We hope to see you there!
Vanbrewer Cask Night
VanBrewers are meeting up at Yaletown Brewing on December 29th for the cask night. Mark your calenders.
AGM announced! January 21st!
Our Annual General Meeting is coming up where we elect the executive members. Afterwards we have a festive night of sampling large quantities of home brewed beverages. We rely on our members to make this night a success, so start brewing beers for this event. Last year we had 19 kegs and a pin plus lots of bottles going around. There will be more information to come so stay tuned.

We will have t-shirts, so if you want to support the club and rock some new duds, bring some cash with you to the next meeting! There are 2 different styles (We should have both at each meeting) and they are $25 per shirt. Also, if you pre-bought shirts at the party, you can also pick them up.
CAMRA/VanBrewers Harvest Competition
As part of the Malone's/CAMRA Vancouver Oktoberfest/Harvest Festival we are organizing a homebrew contest. The theme will be Harvest Beers (think roasted sweet potato and garlic IPA dry hopped with fresh centennial hops and rosemary from your backyard.)
http://camravancouver.ca/2011/09/06/oktoberfest-harvestfest-%E2%80%93-2-events-1-day/
I don't have many details yet but I figured I'd give everyone a heads up so you can start brewing. Details will be posted on the CAMRA Vancouver website as I have them.
We may also have a category for German Lagers and Ales to fit with the Oktoberfest theme, but it seemed a bit short notice to actually brew something. However, if people have beer ready to go and there is interest in entering them then we'll do it. Let me know on this forum if you think it's a good idea.
Good Luck
- Matt
(More info will be posted as it comes in)
